Kanti Velugu Another flagship healthcare programme launched by the Telangana State Government that stood out is Kanti Velugu - which is about free eye screening for all citizens. Under 'Kanti Velugu', the entire population of 3.7 crore are provided free eye care. The authorities are not only conducting eye screening but also providing free medicines, spectacles and arranging for free surgeries, if required. The government plans to distribute 40 lakh spectacles. 6 KG's Fine Rice Scheme Six KG's of rice per head per family is supplied through the Public Distribution System to every member among the eligible families in the State. The state government is supplying 1.74 lakh MT of rice at Rs 1 per Kg to 2.74 crore beneficiaries through 17,027 Ration Shops to 85,53,157 lakh ration card holders. For this subsidy of Rs.5,413.41 crores is being given. In 2019-20 budgets, including subsidy government has allocated Rs.2,744 crores. • • Fine Rice for students - the State government is supplying fine rice to Welfare hostel students for implementing midday meal scheme in the Hostels and Schools; the government is supplying fine rice (BPT, Sona Masuri and Super Fine). Under the scheme, 44.61 Lakh students were being benefitted. • Including welfare hostels, government school children annually 1.20 lakh metric tonnes fine rice is being given procuring the same at a cost of Rs.3,300 per quintal. Palle Pragati The Government of Telangana has launched Palle Pragati program to improve the quality of life in the rural areas. To monitor the activities and works under the Palle Pragati Program, Government have constituted 50 Flying Squads (FSO) consisting of Senior Officers of the State Government. Afforestation: The CM said that Haritha Haram programme aimed at increasing green cover of the State should be given increased focus, particularly in the districts of Karimnagar, Jangaon, Yadadri, Suryapet, Warangal Urban, Gadwal and Narayanpet that lack green cover. Plastic ban in the State: The CM has decided to ban the manufacture and sale of plastics, which are harm the environment, while threatening the very existence of life. He asked officials to prepare guidelines for the same.
