INFRASTRUCTURE
Telangana is one of the
fastest urbanizing States
in India, with about 39%
population living in the
urban areas. Hyderabad
is one of the main growth
engines of the State and
the Country.
The State Government has
taken concerted steps to develop
Hyderabad as a global city. Some of
the key initiatives undertaken by the
Government to develop the capital city
of Hyderabad and surrounding urban
areas are briefly described below.
Nehru Outer Ring Road
In order to improve the
road connectivity and
decongest the traffic flow
in Hyderabad, a 158-km-
long, 8-lane expressway,
encircling Hyderabad
was constructed
connecting all major
Industrial Clusters
with International
Airport and residential
clusters, and provides
direct access to various
national highways, state
highways and major
district roads.

The ORR connects most suburbs of the city with a modern 8 lane highway
making it easy to travel to all the neighbouring districts.
Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP)
The Strategic Road Development
Programme (SRDP) has been taken
up as a high priority project for the
development of Greater Hyderabad
with an investment of around
30,000 Cr. The project comprises
construction of, flyovers, road over
bridges, road under bridges and
widening of roads to ensure overall
improvement in connectivity and
ease traffic congestions. 18 projects
built at a cost of Rs 1,010 crore
under SRDP have been inaugurated.
