In the past six years, the country has experienced
a period of poor economic performance. The
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the last decade
registered an average annual growth of 1.4%.
This slower pace, especially in the second half
of the decade, resulted in key social setbacks,
such as a drop in employment and income levels,
retraction of investments, low performance
in the production sector, as well as damage to
confidence levels in the markets and households.
This scenario was aggravated in 2020 by the
crisis resulting from the Covid pandemic,
which negatively impacted the business. This
impacted the flow of people, vehicles and cargo,
affected by measures adopted by public and
private entities, social isolation demands.
However, as the pandemic effects were felt in
2020 they were not commented on in this Annual
Sustainability Report, whose base year is 2019.
