(Source: BP Energy Outlook 2022)#27Challenges in Energy Transition • Race to Net Zero, high oil & gas prices coupled with the recent geopolitical developments has lead to a clear call to solve the dual challenges of energy security and energy transition . Experts trying to understand if this energy shock is a one-off event Or ⚫ is it the first of what will be several crises resulting from straining too hard to bring 2050 carbon-reduction goals rapidly forward • Are we potentially prematurely choking off investment in hydrocarbons, thus triggering future shocks? • Gas playing an important role in the energy transition by providing the reliable energy needed to fuel growth and improved living conditions for all, producing this energy with decreasing emissions to support a net-zero world.#28Global Energy Consumption - Comparison Region Oil Natural Gas Coal Nuclear Energy Hydro electric World 31.27% 24.70% 27.18% 4.30% Figures rounded off Renewables 6.85% 5.69% Asia Pacific 26.47% 12.23% 47.68% 2.29% 6.47% 4.87% China 19.59% 8.18% 56.56% 2.23% 8.07% 5.36% India 28.20% 6.72% 54.83% 1.25% 4.53% 4.47% India & China are in the process of diversifying the primary energy mix and increasing share of cleaner natural gas & renewables (Source: BP Statistical World Energy Review, 2021)#29Global LNG exports Million metric tons Global LNG Trade (2021) Global LNG net imports Million metric tons +6.7% 388 +5.9% ■Middle East 375 +0.8% +0.9% 400 363 400 354 361 25.2 351 ■Americas 350 20.1 29.5 29.3 29.9 350 74 77 West Africa 16. 14. 15.2 ■Southeast Asia 29.0 30.0 14.3 14.0 22.2 300 18.4 14.2 ■Russia 300 20.0 22.1 ■ Other Europe 74.4 39.6 49.3 44.2 37.5 49.5 250 Atlantic Basin 14.4 ■ NW Europe + 250 15.5 19.3 Italy 32.1 27.3 34.9 16.2 17.5 ■U.S. 16.0 38.6 ■Spain 200 200 36.2 39.2 ■Taiwan 78.9 79.9 80.2 Other MENA 45.7 150 150 39.6 39.7 ■South Asia Qatar 100 59.2 56.3 55.4 78.9 Pacific Basin 100 60.8 67.1 ■South Korea ■China Australia 50 50 75.9 76.9 80.2 74.2 72.9 73.2 Japan 0 0 2019 2020 2021 2019 2020 2021 Source: BP Statistical Review 2021 Net Imports grew by 5.9%, driven by big supply growth from US.#300 China 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 20 10 Source: BP Statistical Review 2021 China Surpasses Japan as World's Top LNG Importer.
