Special items incorporated in the preparation of these non-GAAP measures for 2021 include the items described below: Net costs for significant litigation: • These relate to 3M's respirator mask/asbestos, PFAS-related other environmental, and Combat Arms Earplugs matters. Net costs include the impacts of changes in accrued liabilities, external legal fees, and insurance recoveries, along with the associated tax impacts.
